***UPDATED 8/7/2020 WITH LINKS FOR ONLINE AUCTION REGISTRATION, SELLER REGISTRATION FORM AND RULES/FAQ DOCUMENTS***
While we weren’t able to offer the Fair or our livestock auction this year, others have taken up the mantle of making sure that the hard working families of Southeast Missouri still have an opportunity to showcase their hard work and reap some retribution for all their efforts.
The Junior Livestock Sale will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2:00pm at the SEMO Livestock Sales, LLC auction barn in Fruitland (7505 US Highway 61, Jackson MO 63755). The auction will be for steer, sheep, goat and barrow projects.
The online portion of the auction will be handled by DV Auction Services. We are very excited about this option, as buyers who cannot attend in person (or who choose not to due to COVID-19 concerns) can bid online and help to bring these kids the most money for their hard work. Another very cool thing about the online side is that families can tune in to watch their family member sell. ONLINE BUYERS WILL NEED TO REGISTER WITH DV AUCTIONS BEFORE THE DAY OF SALE. To get registered, go to https://www.dvauction.com/register.
Here are the requirements as of today:
- Animals must have attended the appropriate weigh-in or gone through the nomination process.
- Livestock will be weighed upon arrival and must meet the following weights:
- Steers minimum 1000 pounds
- Barrows between 230 and 310 pounds
- Sheep between 50 and 150 pounds
- Goats between 50 and 150 pounds
- This sale will follow the same rules and regulations as previous Jr. Livestock Auctions.
- ONE ANIMAL PER EXHIBITOR
Entries are due September 1, 2020. To download the registration form or the rules/FAQ sheet, click the links below (PDF):
It’s noted that the event is subject to cancellation based on the local COVID-19 situation.
We will do our best to keep up with the latest information, but please contact Luke Aufdenberg at 573-579-0484 or email SEMOJrLivestockSale@gmail.com with questions.
*Please note that as this is held off of SEMO District Fair property, we cannot directly endorse for liability reasons. That said, we look forward to seeing all of our supporters jump in for this fantastic opportunity to pick up some of the heartland’s best livestock and support our youth in agriculture!
